Biography
Boldly Blazing trails into uncharted artistic vision, Emily Rogers is a protean producer.
An interdisciplinary artist, she actively works as a songwriter, musician, dancer, choreographer, event curator, musical director, host and DJ.
Born and nurtured in Detroit, Michigan a love of music and the arts was apparent as a toddler. Emily picked up her first instrument, the oboe, in middle school. Just after high school she experienced an intense love affair with dance. As a B-girl, she has shared the stage with artists such as 98 degrees, Rob Base, Gloria Gainer, Sister Sledge, Jocelyn Enrique and Rockell. “ Dancing taught me how to listen” explains Emily. She later went on to study music theory and composition in College.
When Emily picked up the bass, she found a musical soul mate. She is an accomplished bandleader with a powerful stage presence. Recognized and respected for her musicianship and showmanship in her hometown, she received nominations for Detroit Music Awards like: best band, best song- writing, most outstanding live show and best audio recording. In 2013 she was honored with the Detroit Music Award for Best Rock Instrumentalist!
Her skillful playing and charismatic energy have bestowed her many live performance and studio recording appearances nationally and internationally. Highlights include: :
Acclaimed hip-hop emcee Royce Da 5’9, Techno pioneers Underground Resistance, Actor Jon Michael Hill (Detroit 187, Empire), Chicago house diva Screamin' Rachel, One Be Lo of Binary Star, Black Women Rock, Sean Blackman’s InTransit, P-A-U-L, Buppy Lenox Brown, and other industry icons such as the Bass Brothers, Barrett Strong, Ortheia Barnes, Wesley Snipes, Phuture Trax Records, George Clinton, The Russel Simmons Camp, and Westbound Records.
In addition to her personal creative endeavors, Emily contributes to the vibrancy of the Detroit Community by curating inclusive concerts, recordings sessions, jam sessions, micro festivals and multi-media events. She brings various artists together to explore and experiment with conventional genres and styles cultivating space to design a symbiotic platform that intentionally creates music with a mission, art with a purpose and shared value for all. Her work was recently awarded the 2020 Gilda Snowden Emerging Artist Award from the Kresge Arts Foundation.
